Microsoft unveiled the Lumia 650 earlier this evening. The company’s new Windows 10 Mobile, the Lumia 650 is already available for pre-order in some parts of Europe. However, if you live in the United States, you can’t get your hands on a new Lumia 650 just yet. Thankfully though, the device will be available for pre-order in the United States. As we previously reported, the Lumia 650 will be available at Cricket Wireless in the United States.

The device isn’t available for purchase at Cricket Wireless just yet, however. Microsoft’s official support page for the Lumia 650 today confirmed that the Lumia 650 will, indeed, be coming to Cricket Wireless. As you can see in the screenshot below, the web page includes a link to the Lumia 650 User Guide for Cricket Wireless users:

No, the Lumia 650 does not have wireless charging

lumia 650 no qi

There have been rumours that the Lumia 650 has wireless charging for some time, with the most recent spec sheet to include this from the weekend, via WindowsBlogItalia.

The feature was unfortunately not present on the Lumia 650 when officially announced, but this frame from the above video (via WPWorld.pl) suggests some kind of antenna on the device.

Unfortunately a Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed to us that the wiring is not in fact from a Qi antenna, which likely leaves the loop as the usual NFC antenna.

Of course for $200 I think Qi charging would have been a bit too much to ask for in any case,  but it does underline the mid-range gap in Microsoft’s line-up, meaning you would have to go all the way up to the Lumia 950 flagship for access to this technology, something which was not needed in the past.
