Nokia 3 will be updated to 7.1.1 by the end of August

It might not be available in the US just yet, but HMD Global is already preparing to update the entry-level Nokia 3 to Android 7.1.1. The phone launched with Android 7.0 Nougat, which isn’t too shabby, but 7.1.1 will bring with it a few new features. If this is a predictor of future software support, customers that pick up one of the new Nokia Android phones may have a lot to look forward to.

The news was released a couple days ago via a tweet from Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, which licenses the Nokia name to produce Android phones.

Leaked images of Samsung’s high-end flip phone leave little to the imagination

We already know that Samsung is gearing up to release another flip phone. Back in May, the device (model number SM-G9298) was certified by TENAA in China. Now, a few images of the smartphone have leaked online, giving us a better look at what to expect in terms of design.

You can check out a press render above, and a few hands-on images in the gallery below, which were posted online by SlashLeaks.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the smartphone is currently going by the Samsung W2018, as it appears to be the successor to last year’s W2017. Based on the TENAA listing, it would be a high-end device.

The flip phone is expected to come with two 4.2-inch Full HD displays and the Snapdragon 821 chipset. It should have 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. A 2,300 mAh battery, 12 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP selfie snapper are also said to be included.

Disappointingly, however, the handset will probably only be available in China and a few other Asian countries. It appears that Samsung doesn’t plan on bringing it to Western markets, due to a lack of demand for flip phones.

There’s no word on when exactly the Samsung W2018 would make its debut, but rumors have it that the company will announce it sometime next month.

Would you consider getting a flip phone like the upcoming Samsung W2018? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.

The main features advertised by Micromax, though, are the two cameras. The Selfie 2 makes use of an 8 MP front-facing snapper, with its own dedicated flash. On the back, meanwhile, is a 13 MP Sony camera. Micromax says that the camera software also provides a bokeh effect, which is rare in single-camera phones, especially when they are in the low-to-mid price bracket.

The Micromax Selfie 2 will be available from offline retailers in India starting tomorrow, August 1, running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It will set you back Rs. 9,999 (around $155) and it comes with a 100-day replacement warranty, meaning that Micromax will replace the phone with the same or similarly-priced model if there is any damage to it in the first 100 days. Do keep in mind that this overlaps with the standard one-year warranty, though.

What are your thoughts on the Miramax Selfie 2? Are you interested in picking this one up? Let us know in the comments.

KReview

Price: Free
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
KReview is the official app of the online service. Its basic function is to analyze Amazon reviews. It uses an algorithm to tell if the reviews are mostly legitimate or mostly trash. The app itself doesn’t do anything. You surf Amazon like normal. Then you use the share feature to share the Amazon link to the app. The app then spits out a score. That score lets you know how legit most of the reviews for that product are. It’s completely free and takes up hardly no space.

Motion Stills

Price: Free
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Motion Stills is the latest app from Google. It actually doesn’t do a whole lot. You have the option to shoot a three second video. It’ll turn that video into a GIF that you can share. You can also record a longer video and the app will speed it up a whole bunch. That’s about all it can do. It’s a free app so it’s really difficult to complain too much. There are some bugs, though. We don’t imagine they’ll be there long

Just don’t let you expectations get up there too high. The app is free to download with in-app purchases.
