Skype for iOS update brings HD video chat

Skype on Monday introduced a series of new updates to its iPhone and iPad apps, including the ability to make HD video calls. The company said anyone with an iPhone 5 or iPad 4 can now Skype in 720p, which will make your conversations with friends and family even sharper.

In addition to HD calls, the update brings Audio and video call quality and stability improvements, new, easier to use country code selector on the dial pad and other general fixes and improvements to all iOS devices.

The update also offers stability improvements for users of iOS 7 beta. Users of iOS 7 beta have been facing difficulties using the app app and were experiencing random crashes. Skype says that the update is a significant improvement, and that it will offer full iOS 7 support when the OS is officially released.

You can pick up the 4.10 update now for iOS 5 compatible and up, which is available for most of Apple’s mobile devices. HD video calling, however, only works for the iPhone 5 and iPad 4.
