Verizon employs some unusual characters to unbox the new LG G5…. Puppies!

lg_g5_official_gradient_background

T-Mobile’s Product Expert Des brought us a pretty awesome LG G5 unboxing earlier this month, but Verizon may have just one-upped them. In order to spruce up the unboxing of the brand new Lg G5, Verizon decided to harness the power of puppies! This may easily be the cutest unboxing video you will ever see.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Pretty awesome right? While puppies may not be able to talk and explain all the cool features like a human can, who needs to listen to some guy talk when we can just read about the features and watch puppies at the same time? Nothing beats the silliness of watching puppies run around and play with a bunch of brand new G5s.

It is awesome to see carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon getting involved and sprucing up what is usually a pretty boring unboxing video. What do you guys think? Are you a fan of Verizon’s puppies unboxing, or do you like T-Mobile’s Des and his wild high-speed G5 and underwater Galaxy S7 unboxing videos?

AT&T will throw in a Samsung Smart TV with Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge orders

att_samsung_tv_promo_television

As if the excitement surrounding the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones is not enough to help drive sales, AT&T is offering to throw a new television set in the mix subject to certain requirements. The TV is a Samsung 48-inch LED model that normally retails for $450. To take advantage of this deal, consumers have to buy one of Samsung’s new flagship smartphones using an AT&T Next plan and activate a new AT&T line or new DIRECTV service.

AT&T Next is the carrier’s financing tool for mobile device purchases. Buyers can opt for payment plans of 12, 18 or 24 months before completing their commitment and being eligible for an upgrade. Meanwhile, DIRECTV service starts at $29.99 per month for 12 months, but does require a 24 month commitment.

In addition to adding a new line of wireless service or DIRECTV service, buyers do have to have the other service already in place so that at the end of the day they have both DIRECTV and wireless service through AT&T. However, only one has to be new service to qualify for the deal.

If you decide to take up AT&T on this offer, which will be available starting on April 1st, be sure to finish the process by visiting the special web site setup for qualifying buyers and then wait for delivery of your new TV.

Acer’s new Chromebase 24 is made specifically for meetings

Acer-Chromebase-for-Meetings-CA24V_01

With Chrome OS, Google is targeting students and businesses with machines that perform everyday activities in the simplest ways possible. Chromebooks are for students while Chromeboxes and Chromebases have silently made their way inside offices around the world. Although Chrome OS devices aren’t heavily promoted, they are successful. Let’s not forget that Apple’s Tim Cook is very bitter about Google’s success in the classroom.

Today, Google announced the next step for Chrome OS in business with a new Chromebase model from Acer. It’s part of the new Chromebase for Meetings family that focuses on providing an all-in-one secure video conferencing device for small spaces where meetings take place.

Acer-Chromebase-for-Meetings-CA24V_02 Acer-Chromebase-for-Meetings-CA24V_03

Here’s what the Acer Chromebase 24 for Meetings has:

  • 24-inch Full HD (1920×1080) touchscreen display
  • Intel processor with Google Hardware Video Accelerator
  • Adjustable HD camera
  • 4 microphones, 2 stereo speakers

Although the display is quite large, Acer implemented a chassis that tilts both up and down so anyone on the other side of the video call can see you at the perfect angle.

Changes were also made to Google for Work users with existing or upcoming devices. Google has raised the number of meeting participants to twenty-five people for Google Apps customers. In addition, administrators can now receive alerts and monitor Chrome OS devices for remote diagnosis and troubleshooting.

The Acer Chromebase 24 for Meetings is available now in the United States for $799, a price that does include the first year’s management and support fee of $250. It can also be purchased in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. Pricing in those regions will vary.

Acer Launches World’s First Chromebase for meetings Solution

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (March 31, 2016) Acer today announced the world’s first touchscreen Chromebase for meetings (CA24V), an all-in-one, dedicated video conference system. For those who need a dedicated videoconferencing device in small conference rooms or executive offices, this solution includes all of the hardware, software, and services needed in one package, along with 24/7 technical support, and easy administration through Chrome Device Management.

The latest addition further expands Acer’s industry-leading Chrome OS device portfolio, which currently includes Chromebooks, Chromeboxes / Chromebox for meetings solutions, and Chromebases[1]. According to data from Gartner[2], Acer Group is the world’s leading Chromebook brand with over 33 percent market share in 2015.

Designed for videoconferencing, Acer’s Chromebase for meetings features the largest screen of all Chrome OS devices on the market, a 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with IPS[3] technology, reproducing consistent and accurate colors at up to 178-degree wide viewing angles. An array of four microphones and two speakers ensure that participants can hear and be heard clearly, while an adjustable HD webcam and a chassis that easily tilts from – 5° to 30° allows them to be framed perfectly on the call.

Meetings with Anyone, Anywhere

The Chromebase for meetings solution, utilizing Google Hangouts, can host videoconferences with up to 25 participants across a variety of devices such as laptops, tablets, or smartphones. With a meeting link, colleagues, customers, or partners can join in the call whether in a conference room, at home, or on the go.

Easy to Deploy and Manage

Enterprise IT administrators can deploy and manage hundreds or thousands of Chrome devices with ease through Chrome Device Management, significantly reducing the workload of technical support and consequently reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for organizations. The Chromebase for meetings solution also integrates with other videoconferencing systems[4] and existing phone systems.

Simple and Secure

The Chromebase for meetings, which runs Chrome OS, will receive automatic updates every six weeks to ensure it is always secure and up to date. All data, whether stored on the Chromebase or in the cloud are encrypted and protected by its TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2 chip, which securely generates and stores cryptographic keys. Each time Chrome OS boots up, Verified Boot checks the integrity and validity of system files to ensure they have not been tampered with.

Pricing and Availability

The Chromebase for meetings is available at $799 in the US, which includes the first year’s $250 management and support fee. It is also available in Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia. Customers in the US can sign up to apply for a free trial[5] of the Chromebase for meetings solution.

Exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region. To find out about availability, product specifications and prices in specific markets, please contact your nearest Acer office or authorized reseller.
